I'm Josh Smith, based in the UK. I run this website and am responsible for the personal information described in this notice. It explains what happens when you contact me or visit the site.

When you get in touch

The contact form collects your name, email address, company if you provide one, and message. I use these details to understand your enquiry and reply. You choose whether to contact me, but I need a working email address to respond.

Your message is sent to my inbox through Namecheap Private Email. Your email address is included so I can reply to you. The form does not send an automatic confirmation email or save your message in a separate website database.

If you ask for a quote or discuss work you want me to do for you, I use your information to take steps at your request before entering a contract. For other correspondence, including enquiries on behalf of a business, I rely on my legitimate interest in answering questions and managing business relationships. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing emails.

Analytics and consent

With your consent, I use Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages people visit, how they use the site and how well it performs. This can include page addresses, referring websites, campaign information, general device and browser details, interactions and page-loading measurements. The contact details and message you enter in the form are not included in these analytics events.

Analytics stays off until you accept. You can decline and still browse the site or send an enquiry. You can also withdraw consent using the button below or “Cookie settings” in the footer. Withdrawing stops further analytics collection by this site and removes its accessible Google Analytics cookies. It does not undo processing that took place before you changed your choice.

The site remembers your choice in your browser. The Cookie Policy explains the storage used and how long it lasts.

Keeping the site working

Vercel hosts this website and processes technical information needed to deliver pages, handle form requests and protect against abuse. This can include your IP address, request time, requested address and browser information in hosting and security logs. I rely on my legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure website for this processing.

Service providers and international processing

The services that handle information for this website are:

• Namecheap Private Email: delivers and stores enquiry emails. See Namecheap's privacy notice.
• Google Analytics: receives events only after you accept analytics. See Google's privacy policy.
• Vercel: hosts the site and, after consent, receives Web Analytics events. See Vercel's privacy notice.

These providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States. Their published terms describe safeguards for international transfers, including contractual protections and, where applicable, recognised data-protection frameworks. How long information is kept

If an enquiry does not lead to client work, I keep the correspondence for up to one year after our last contact, then delete it. If we work together, I keep the records needed to deliver the work, meet legal obligations and deal with any claims. The period depends on the kind of record and the obligation involved.

Analytics records are kept to compare visits and site performance over time. Hosting and security logs are kept for service operation, troubleshooting and investigating abuse. The providers' notices above explain their retention practices. Browser storage has separate lifetimes, listed in the Cookie Policy.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access your personal information, correct it, have it deleted, restrict its use or receive a portable copy. To make a request, email hello@joshsmith.marketing.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also withdraw analytics consent at any time using Cookie settings.

You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator. Visit the ICO's complaints page for details. You can contact me first if you would like me to help resolve a concern.
